Project Red Thread – The Colours

The red thread symbolises our blood, our lineages throughout the ages, the centuries, the continents of this earth. The colour red represents life, life force, the real and visible, everything that has a pulse. It is what connects all living beings of this planet together in one communal weaving. It is the energy of creation, the energy of the Divine Mother. Another aspect of the colour red is that it represents the active principle, the yang energy that stimulates movement, the lava within us that transforms what needs to be transmuted.

The white of the fabric symbolises the thoughts that shape this world, the impulse that gives life, the light and masculine principle, but also the blank page, new beginnings and the yin principle – the energy of the invisible, the subtle realms, our etheric parts.

In Alchemy the white alchemical work is the intermediate stage of purification: we are on the path, we have already walked part of the way towards truth and alignment. We have already purged part of the weight we are carrying – our heritage, beliefs, traumas, tensions, but we haven’t yet fully integrated all parts of our being. We are walking path, we are at the heart of the alchemical work.
The Red work is the last phase of the alchemical transformation: we reintegrate all parts of our being, our spiritual selves merge with our material selves, our body is infused with the light of the spirit and we live in our light bodies.
In the collective embroidery the white background represents our original state of purity and our capacity to transform and purify, the red thread represents everything that brings us back into the body, the present moment, but also the beacon of our faith that guides our steps.
